The left side button doesn't really get in the way and it feels just like my old wired mouse which is good. This mouse feels good in the hand with its rubber-feel sides and is only a very tiny bit smaller than my standard HP wired desktop mouse measuring 100mm from top to tail. Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 - Black While I now require a more sophisticated mouse for gaming and my design work, Microsoft and Logitech are the two manufacturers you should be considering at this level, and then it's simply a matter of personal preference and price. I would just like to emphasis the fact that the product definitely outlasted the 3-year hardware warranty, and I put my tech through more tear and wear than the average user, so I'm quite satisfied with the device. The product fits my hand comfortably, so I have no need of the extra grip supplied by the rubber, and I actually think your hand doesn't warm up as much during extended periods of use. However, I simply peeled everything off and it hasn't had a detrimental impact on the way I use it. Finally, the rubber components deteriorated after a year or so of virtually constant use, which was disappointing. This is because in the on position there seems to be some 'wiggle' to the switch, which I assume means the parts have loosened over time, so all you have to do to fix it is nudge it slightly. Also, now when I switch the device on, the light sometimes stutters and seems to stay off. However, the problem seems to resolve itself by the next day at the very latest. Over the past year or so, after 3 years of heavy use paired with an aging laptop, the connection has occasionally started to cut out for no obvious reason and I've had trouble trying to restart it again using all the standard methods (which is particularly annoying during online multiplayer gaming sessions!). There are a few negatives, but they're more slight inconveniences than dealbreakers. While the stated <10 months is an optimistic estimate of an upper threshold of capability and the time between battery changes has inevitably decreased over the years, it takes a single AA battery so it's decent enough for its price. While I haven't paid much attention to exactly how long each battery lasts, this is perhaps indicative that it has never been a real issue.

The button customisation software changed between the two occasions I tried customising the buttons, but it seems pretty straightforward now. set it as the 'Back' button and browsing the internet will become a breeze. Furthermore, the thumb button is very useful as a third basic control and you will quickly learn to appreciate it if you are not used to having one i.e. when weapon switching instead of reloading. However, if you use it for gaming, you won't have the accuracy that a click motion wheel provides e.g. The scroll wheel is smooth but has a very subtle resistance to it, so you have a reasonable level of control when scrolling.

The nano transceiver is so small and unintrusive I don't even bother taking it out of my laptop, as I have more than enough spare USB ports. the back of very glossy magazines, the BlueTrack technology is impressive and I very rarely have trouble finding a suitable surface to use it on.

While it's not as effective on very shiny materials e.g. It really does 'fit life on the go' as it's compact, fairly light, and has a solid feel so you can chuck it in your bag without having to worry about it.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap but reliable portable mouse for everyday use.

After roughly 4 years of almost constant daily use, I can safely say I am very happy with this purchase.
