Sorry for venting but I would love any input from anyone who has ripped the Skywalker Saga or any other set.MakeMKV offers some of the best value for money of any software on the market. I then removed the disc, restarted the computer (why, I don't know), cleaned the disc again, and tried again, often with success the second time.īut I didn't have to clean Black Widow or any other other 100 or so discs I have ripped. Regarding the coating issue, for the last few discs, I went ahead and cleaned them with window cleaner even before trying the first time, and yet, it never worked round one. Does that only apply to sets? Why isn't it an issue with single discs? Does it have something to do with the cardboard inserts the Saga discs come in, as opposed to the usual plastic cases? Yet, I have had other sets with cardboard cases that ripped the first time.

What is it about these sets? I read on the MakeMKV thread that the discs come with a coating on them that often needs to be wiped off. I even used the internal MakeMKV within JRiver to rip that one, with zero problems. Yet, in between ripping various discs from the Saga, I threw in Black Widow, which ripped successfully the first time. At best, I got a few on attempt number two, and I still have never successfully ripped Revenge of the Sith. Not one single movie has ripped successfully the first time. I am currently trying to rip the 9th movie, The Rise of Skywalker. I just received the 9 disc Skywalker Saga yesterday. (A Best Buy replacement worked perfectly, though I haven't even watched the movie yet). I have ripped over 100 UHD discs over the past 8 months and the only one I ever struggled with was my first copy of Tenet.

Maybe I am just wanting to vent more than actually need help. I posted over in the MakeMKV forum but not getting any feedback.
